The Heritage Lottery Fund
Looking Back But Moving Forward
On the 31st January 2011 the Ryedale Family History Group were awarded a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant of £47,400 for its project ‘Looking Back But Moving Forward’ over a 3-year period.
Our application identified 10 objectives, all closely associated with the social/family history of Ryedale and, following receipt of the subsequent ‘Permission to Start,’ on the 31st January 2011 we rationalised them into the following activities which have been on-going for the past 3 years.
The grant period officially ended on 31st May 2014 but the work will continue into the future on the following activities:
Activity | Team Leader |
NYCRO Registers | Janice Wood |
War Memorials Research | Peter Braithwaite |
Monumental Inscriptions | Rita Gibson |
Schools Liaison | Eileen Wray |
Family History Classes | Janice Wood |
Family History Fair | Janice Wood + Committee |
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the 90 volunteers who have contributed to the success of the project. Using an HLF formula, they contributed an estimated £170,000 to the project: unfortunately, not real money!
And, of course, we must acknowledge the HLF for awarding us the grant.
If you feel like giving a ‘helping hand’ with any of the above activities, please contact
