Membership - The Benefits
Every member receives a copy of our quarterly newsletter, ‘Ryedale Roots’ which includes reports on meetings, details of forthcoming meetings and other activities, stories and anecdotes submitted by members, and lots more. You have the option to receive ‘Ryedale Roots’ electronically, in full colour, or as a printed booklet.
Every member may attend our free monthly meetings, which are held on the third Wednesday in each month, except December. Whilst most of our meetings are now held via Zoom, some are 'hybrid' meetings, held at various venues around Ryedale. Guests are welcome to attend one meeting free of charge. All members may use the facilities in our Research Room, including the use of free sites on the internet, free of charge. A small charge is made for printing, photocopying, etc. Non members are welcome too, for a small fee.
The Research Room is open every Thursday, between 10am and 3pm, and is also available at all other times by appointment, so you can arrange a visit at a time to suit you.Members' Interests. Every member may submit a list of surname interests to be included on our website. This has already helped many members to find others researching the same surnames in this area and elsewhere. We do not publish any members' personal details, only the Membership number. Our Membership Secretary will put you in touch with other members. Our Members' Interests list is published on our website and updated regularly. Printed copies are available on request. A copy is kept at the Research Room.
You have the opportunity to help with our numerous projects! You have the opportunity to talk to people who share your interests, and to use our "Help Bank" in which you can ask for help or offer help to other researchers.
