Welcome to the Ryedale Family History Group
The area of interest covered by this group is that which is now known as Ryedale,
as designated by the boundaries formerly administered by the Ryedale District Council, as at our foundation in 2005.
The changes to administrative boundaries, which occurred in 2023 may mean that some people could have difficulty in finding just where Ryedale is. It is a very large area, in the heart of Yorkshire,
so we hope our identity will not be lost in the councils' reshuffle
A wide range of publications is available at our shop which is now located on the Genfair website
Go to www.genfair.co.uk. This link will take you to our own shop,
where a complete list of all the publications available can be seen
Use the search box to locate a place of interest in Ryedale
(Yorkshire Parish Registers for many places outside the Ryedale area are also available here)
There is also an option to join or renew your membership on this site
The towns Malton, Norton, Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley are at the centre of our area, and the boundaries extend to Hawnby, Bilsdale and Rosedale to the north, Terrington and Sheriff Hutton in the west, Ebberston and Sherburn in the east and to Thixendale and Weaverthorpe on the Yorkshire Wolds to the south. Parts of this area are also covered by our friends at the East Yorkshire Family History Society, The Cleveland, North Yorkshire & South Durham Family History Society and The City of York & District Family History Society, all of which overlap our area of interest
